I just want to make a quick comment about the comment approval process for this new blog.  I have a similar blog site than I used for my Brit Lit II course this semester, and I get about 20 spam comments a day, ranging from the innocuous to the obscene.  I've been able to keep them out of the view of the public by having the system set so that once someone has a comment approved, all of their subsequent comments are automatically approved.  Therefore, your first comment will be delayed until I can approve it (also, any other comments you post before I approve that first one will also be held back).  After that, though, you should be all set.

I apologize for this inconvenience, but it will save us all a lot of headaches down the road.

I don’t know about that, but we did get our first spam comment today (or should I say that I, the IT Nazi, got it so that you guys wouldn’t have to… :)

Thanks Rob,
We don’t need the spam. I wonder how people can get on to spam.

Sue, anyone can comment as long as they fill in a name and email address. The spammers do that automatically with programs called “bots” that scan the web for places to spread their spam.
