Shareen K. Murayama is a poet, writer, and educator. She's never written a true love poem, even though she's experienced true love many times. She is a true believer that salads prepared by other hands taste the best, it's bad luck to celebrate one's birthday before the date, and in her next life, she'll return much taller. Someone stated on some somewhere platform "that it was okay to not be a poet." She refuses to absorb that idea as a world without poetry, a world with two hands tied behind her back, restricted from figuring out her feelings and observations of the world, may not be do-able. Murayama also believes that everyone's voice, the words they choose to describe their world are poems and necessary and insightful.
